AUDIO PRODUCTION / PROTOOLS LESSONS SEBASTIAN HART

Brief Bio: link to>>About (full biography)
Hello my name is Sebastian Hart, I have been teaching private music lessons since 2003, and Protools / studio recording in general for the past year. I started my own production company named FertileFolklore.com, with the help of my band RouseConcert.com in 2008. Before graduating from CSU East Bay in 2009, I completed all their audio courses, and played with their percussion ensemble, while starting to learn several other instruments including guitar, bass, and keys. Currently I am continuing my studies at Ohlone, in pursuit of an AA degree in music composition, and a full Avid Digidesign Audio Production certificate. I’ve been involved with music since middle school, and continued to play in high school as well as in both college bands (including ensemble, marching, concert, jazz, etc). I also studied percussion privately for 7 years, where I learned much pedagogy of music during the later years. I have been gigging and recording music with numerous local groups since 2001. All of my music endeavors have been extremely varied and I enjoy all aspect and styles of music, including teaching. I am currently looking for students to expand my student base to pay for college, and to help Fertile Folklore continue its pursuit of our visions of grander.

Lesson Information:
I teach the how-to’s of recording and mastering music / the art of capturing time & space / digital audio production with Protools, in a vast array of styles on a plethora of instruments in the studio. All of my lessons are customized to meet the needs and abilities of my students (including work on their personal pieces). Upon arrival you will receive a lesson folder, which you will bring, every week, so I can give you new material, audio production related articles, announcements, and your handwritten notes during lessons. Lessons include everything from cable wrapping to microphone specifications / placement, signal path (including cable & session management), mastering, eq / reverb / compression uses, studio terminology and a variety of topics and techniques which fall in-between these and other categories. All my lessons are done using Avid’s Digidesign industry standard software Protools (though we will use Cubase, Audacity, and other sound programs to achieve specific tasks). I truly enjoy teaching, and feel it keeps me on my musical toes. Over the years I tried to provide my students with continually more services; examples vary from a growing collection of resources and texts, additional information through e-mails between all my students, or once in a while I may bring in an outside artist (allowing all my students to work with playing, and recording multiple and different people). I encourage my students to bring in some of their own equipment to teach maintenance, specifications, additional uses, and a whole bunch of other cool tricks to make your recordings sound the way you want. I truly enjoy working with all age groups, and skill levels; true passion from a student is the only thing that matters.

Rate is $30.00 for a full hour. I do not charge for articles or informational sheets; which I continually provide as lessons go on. I do encourage the purchase of basic equipment, and method books as you progress. And you will need a decent sized travel drive for your sessions.
